I-66 and Rockcastle River
Kentucky Waterways Alliance is working to protect the Rockcastle River, a Kentucky Wild River, and other special waterways in southeastern Kentucky from the construction of a new interstate highway (I-66). The four-lane interstate segment would roughly follow KY 80 and expand its crossing of the Rockcastle Wild River. The route spans the watersheds of three "Outstanding State Resource Waters" that are habitat for threatened or endangered species: Buck Creek, Sinking Creek, and the Rockcastle River.
