Judy Petersen, Executive Director

 

 Judith Petersen serves as executive director for Kentucky Waterways Alliance. Since coming on board in 1997, Judy has been an active participant in southeast and national clean water policy forums. Judy leads KWA’s water quality efforts in Kentucky, as well as along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Judy holds a B.S in aerospace engineering from Pennsylvania State University. 

Jason Flickner, Water Resources Program Director

Jason Flickner has served as water resources program director for KWA since March 2006. In this role, he has worked extensively with environmental non-profit organizations in the Ohio River valley in development and policy since 1997 on issues ranging from timber extraction and highway construction to coal mining. With KWA, Jason focuses on antidegradation policy implementation and Ohio and Mississippi River basin water quality issues. A resident of Louisville, Jason works full-time out of the Louisville office. He is a graduate of Indiana University.

Tessa Edelen, Watershed Program Director

  Tessa Edelen began as KWA’s watershed program director in the fall of 2008 working full-time out of KWA’s Louisville location. Originally from Shelbyville, her professional experience includes working as a biological science technician at various national parks and wildlife refuges, most recently serving as park naturalist for Tom Sawyer State Park. Tessa manages KWA’s work in four watersheds across the state, working closely with communities, stakeholders, and the state on watershed based plans and the Draft Watershed Planning Guidebook. Tessa received her MS from the University of New Mexico. 


 Jennifer Milburn, Outreach Director

Jennifer Milburn serves as KWA’s outreach director. A lifelong Kentuckian, Jennifer previously worked for nonprofits professionally and as a volunteer in communications, public and media relations, and organizational development before joining KWA in November 2007. She is responsible for telling KWA’s story through consistent communications with the public, media, and KWA’s statewide members and donors. Jennifer holds a BA in public relations from Western Kentucky University and a MA in higher education administration from the University of Louisville. She works full-time out of KWA’s Louisville office.

Angela Doyle, Development Director

Angela Doyle serves as Development Director for KWA joining the team in February 2010. A Louisville native, Angela comes to us from Boys & Girls Haven where she worked as Grants Administrator and Development Assistant. She leads our major donor development and fundraising efforts working full-time out of our Louisville office. Angela holds a BA from the University of Louisville in Biology.

Kelly Craig, Membership Coordinator and Greensburg Office Manager

Kelly Craig joined KWA in August 2006 and serves as membership coordinator. Born in Louisville, she moved to Greensburg to be closer to nature, and currently works part-time at KWA’s Greensburg office. In her role as membership coordinator, Kelly assists with member renewals, appeals, and database management, along with special events, and supporting KWA staff with administrative tasks. Kelly is currently a senior at Lindsey Wilson College pursuing a BA in English Literature and a minor in Humanities; she also volunteers as a water quality monitor and serves on the steering committee for the Upper Green Watershed Watch.
