50TH EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: A BEARGRASS CREEK TEACH-IN

Salt River Watershed Watch is partnering with River City Paddle Sports, Kentucky Waterways Alliance and Beargrass Creek Alliance to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and the power of citizen science to make a positive change in our communities.

Events:

  • Guided paddle on the lower reaches of Beargrass Creek. 40 seats are available on 4 Voyageur Canoes or bring your own canoe or kayak. You’ll learn about the history and current conditions of Beargrass Creek. Guides will be testing the water quality along the way. Event is rain or shine. In case of thunderstorms or active Combined Sewer Overflows, paddling will be cancelled and the group will walk along the creek. 3 PM to 6 PM,
  • Self-guided Walking Tour exploring the lower reaches of Beargrass Creek. 4 PM to 6 PM. Free, donations accepted*
  • Public celebration and teach-in for our Beargrass Creek: Guest speakers, music by John Gage, and up to 30 local community organizations will be represented. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. 6 PM to 8 PM, Free, donations accepted
